Tecnalia-CCMIJU team obtains the first place in AI4PolypNet Challenge held at ISMIT 2024

Bellaterra, October 23rd 2024 – The first iteration of AI4PolypNet challenge was held on September 28th as part of iSMIT 2024 conference which took part in Centro de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva Jesús Usón, Cáceres, Spain. After a deep analysis of the results provided by the different participating teams, a team composed by researchers from Tecnalia and Centro de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva Jesús Usón (Tecnalia-CCMIJU) was announced as the winner of the overall challenge.

Eight different research institutions took part in the AI4PolypNet Challenge, including Computer Vision Center, Universitat de Barcelona, Tecnalia, Centro de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva Jesús Usón, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and State Key Laboratory of Dynamic Measurement Technology.

Three different tasks were proposed: polyp detection, polyp segmentation and polyp classification. Public datasets along with official splits were provided to the different teams, which must be registered to have access to the data. Besides, specific guidelines for results submission were set to allow for a fair calculation of the different metrics associated to each task.

On challenge day, the main details of the algorithms designed by the participating teams were provided as well as presenting the main core research lines of the AI4PolypNet network. Once metrics for the different tasks were computed, the winner was announced: Tecnalia-CCMIJU.

Tecnalia-CCMIJU team joins efforts from Tecnalia and Centro de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva Jesús Usón and it is composed by the following members: Uxue de la Quintana Aramendi, Aitor Alvarez Gila, Leire Benito del Valle Urrutia, Cristina Lopez Saratxaga, Artzai Picón Ruiz (Tecnalia) and José Blas Pagador Carrasco and Luisa Fernanda Sánchez Peralta from Centro de Cirugía Mínima Invasiva Jesús Usón (CCMIJU).
